Town Run, the creek which runs through the middle of Strasburg, has historical aspects from its natural spring source behind the historic Hupp house on Massanutten Street. But more importantly, it serves as part of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed as it flows into the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, which in turn flows into the Potomac River, which empties into the Bay.

In order to help care for Town Run, Hometown Strasburg became a part of the Virginia Adopt-a-Stream program on April 23, 2008. Following our spring and fall cleanups that year, we were able to apply to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation for an Adopt-a-Stream sign for Town Run, showing Hometown Strasburg as the adopting organization. The signs were put up on E. King St. and E. Queen St. near the Town Run bridge. Below each sign is a second one, with green background and white lettering, that states, "Town Run - Chesapeake Bay Watershed."
